TAMPA, Fla. – The Arkansas men’s golf team is in 12th place following the first two rounds of the Gary Koch Invitational at a very difficult Old Memorial Golf Club layout on Monday.

The Razorbacks shot a 9-over-par round of 297 on the morning 18 holes and followed that with a 10-over-par 298 in the afternoon. The ninth-ranked Florida Gators lead the event with rounds of 277 (-11) and 276 (-12) for a total of 553. Kentucky is second at 564 (-12), 11 strokes off the pace. South Florida is third 575 (-1) and LSU is fourth at 577 (+1).

Beau Glover was the Hogs top golfer on Monday, firing an opening round 71 (-1) and an even-par 72 in the second round. He heads into Tuesday morning’s final round in a tie for 14th place. Glover is seven strokes off the lead of Florida’s Toby Ragland.

Sophomore Eric Shriver was also solid for the Razorbacks during the first day of play at the 7,389-yard Old Memorial course. He opened with a 1-over-par 73 and shot an even-par 72 in the second round for a two round total of 145. He sits in a tie for 23rd, nine strokes off the lead.

Matt Bortis entered the event with Arkansas’ top scoring average but struggled on Monday with rounds of 74 (+2) and 75(+3). He is in a tie for 43rd after 36 holes of play.

True freshman Jordan Payne ran into his first real struggles of his young collegiate career with a pair of 7-over-par rounds of 79 on Monday. He is in 58th position going into the final round. Sophomore Buddy Wilkins shot an 84 in the first round and a 79 in round two.

The teams are scheduled to begin teeing off at 7 a.m. (CDT) in groups of three.
