RENO, Nev. – The Arkansas men’s golf team is in second place at the Wolf Pack Invitational after firing a 6-under-par round of 282 on Tuesday in the opening round.

The second round of the Wolf Pack Invitational was suspended due to darkness and will be finished Wednesday morning prior to the start of the final round.

The Razorbacks are seven strokes behind first-place Denver, who shot a 13-under-par 274 to lead after the first round of the event. UC-Santa Barbara is in third place with a 3-under-par round of 285 with Nevada, San Diego State and Sacramento State all tied for fourth at 286.

Freshman Jordan Payne fired the Hogs’ low score in the opening round with a career-best 68, placing him in a tie for sixth headed into Wednesday’s final day of action. Junior Matt Bortis was close on his heels with a first-round 69 that put him in a tie for 12th place.

Junior Beau Glover shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 34th. Sophomore Eric Shriver shot a 1-over-par 73 in his first tournament of the 2005-06 season and is tied for 40th. Sophomore Scotty Campbell is tied for 68th after shooting a 3-over-par 75 on Tuesday.

Sophomore Allen McFarren competed as an individual and is in 51st position after shooting a 2-over-par 74.
